During the Senate Commerce Committee’s consideration of a multi-year surface transportation reauthorization bill, IWLA contacted all members of the Senate Committee to urge support for twin-33-foot trailers.  Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) proposed an amendment to include twin-33-foot trailers in the DOT crash causation study. IWLA supported this amendment believing it will provide solid information developed using actual real-world data.  The amendment was withdrawn after the Committee Chair Maria Cantwell (D-WA) agreed to work with Sen. Blackburn to engage with DOT on the safety benefits of twin-33-foot trailers.
