Duke Realty Headquarters Certified LEED® Silver
Designation Reinforces Company’s Commitment to Sustainability
Duke Realty Corporation (NYSE: DRE), the leading domestic only, pure-play logistics property REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) in the United States, earns Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification by the United States Green Building Council for its corporate headquarters in Indianapolis. LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building meets high energy efficiency performance standards, and the design, construction and operation are deemed to be environmentally responsible.
“As a leader in sustainability, not only are we working to make the facilities that we develop more efficient for our tenants and less impactful to our environment, but we are extending this same commitment to our headquarters,” said Duke Realty Vice President of Corporate Responsibility, Megan Basore. “Earning this designation for our headquarters proves our accountability and exemplifies our commitment to sustainable development.”
Duke Realty headquarters at 8711 River Crossing Boulevard in Indianapolis was designed to ensure environmentally sustainable construction, water savings and energy efficiency. Sustainable features include:
energy performance optimization, the use of renewable energy sources and the implementation of high-efficiency HVAC and ventilation systems,
water use efficiency and reduction,
sustainable site development to minimize environmental impact,
construction and demolition waste management, including storage and collection of recyclable materials to eliminate disposal in landfills,
green vehicle accommodation; and
indoor environmental quality management.
The building was recently awarded the Fitwel® 2-Star Rating for its health-promoting design and management that support the physical, mental and social health of its occupants. Fitwel is a rigorous third-party healthy building certification system operated by the Center for Active Design (CfAD).
In 2019, Duke Realty committed to invest in sustainability initiatives with its pledge to design and build every new development to achieve LEED certification. This past year, Duke Realty started a record $1.4 billion of new development projects being built to LEED certification standards across the U.S. — a company record by volume and an increase of over 75 percent from 2020. Sustainable development is an integral component of Duke Realty’s commitment to corporate responsibility and being a good environmental steward.
