ACD Statement on Senate Confirmation of Lori Chavez-DeRemer to Serve as U.S. Secretary of Labor

Arlington, VA – Today, Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD) President and CEO Eric R. Byer released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to confirm former Oregon Representative Lori Chavez-DeRemer to serve as the U.S. Secretary of Labor:

“ACD congratulates Secretary Chavez-DeRemer on her confirmation to serve as Secretary of Labor. ACD members have a personal stake in the health, safety, and security of their employees and the communities in which they operate so they can responsibly deliver the chemical products essential to Americans’ daily lives. Recent onerous regulations, however, have placed additional complexity and costs on businesses, undermining the current effectiveness of important safety measures under the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) purview.

“ACD looks forward to working with Secretary Chavez-DeRemer and encourages the agency’s review of these overly burdensome regulations to ensure these policies are beneficials to American workers and businesses alike.”

Last week, ACD sent a letter to DOL outlining five regulations that meet the administration’s deregulatory initiative under Executive Order 14219. These regulations include the Hazard Communication Standard, the Worker Walkaround Designation Process, the Heat Injury and Illness Prevention in Outdoor and Indoor Work Settings, the Emergency Response Standard, and the Independent Contractor Rule.
