Abacus Celebrates 80 Years of Business and Family

IWLA Partner Member Abacus Corporation is celebrating 80 years in business this year. Their story began in 1944 with Jesse McGee, a streetcar driver with a vision to own his own business. Together with his wife Dorothy "Dot", they began Abacus Corporation. The business started with offerings of janitorial maintenance, painting services, and general commercial cleaning. Over the next 80 years, Abacus transformed into one of the largest privately-held corporate services companies in America.

Since 1944, Abacus has been more than a business; it's a family. Now in its 4th generation of family contributions, this business continues to grow as a source of exciting employment opportunities on a national scale. Congratulations to Abacus on your long-lasting road to success! Read the full article by Baltimore Business Journal here.
