FMCSA Hosts Webinar on Young Driver Apprenticeship Program

The Federal Motor Carrier and Safety Administration (FMCSA) is hosting a webinar for companies interested in participating in or learning more about the Safe Driver Apprenticeship Pilot Program (SDAP). The program allows drivers between the ages of 18-20 with a commercial driver’s license to operate commercial motor vehicles in interstate commerce under certain conditions. The SDAP is a three-year program, created under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, that will permit trucking companies to hire and train 18- to 20-year-old drivers for a career in interstate commerce. IWLA advocated for the establishment of a young driver pilot program in Congress and submitted comment to FMCSA throughout the rulemaking process.

The webinar will take place on Wednesday, July 25, 2022 between 1-3pm EDT.  Please register for the webinar by Friday, July 22, 2022.

FMCSA encourages participating companies to submit their questions in advance to safedriver@dot.gov no later than Thursday, July 21, 2022.
